A well-established used furniture retailer in Daytona Beach — 30+ years serving this community, with a 16,000-square-foot showroom carrying one of the area's largest selections of quality used furniture plus select new pieces — is changing hands.
The incoming owner is hiring the person who will run it. This is a rare thing: a profitable, decades-proven local business, a new owner who does not intend to be on the floor every day, and a manager's seat with a real mandate to grow it.
What you'll do
- Run the business. Not a shift — the business. You'll own the store's day-to-day performance and report directly to the owner.
- Lead the team. Schedule and supervise a 5-person full-time crew, keep labor costs in line, and keep the store running smoothly even when someone calls out.
- Learn a real craft, then own it. Train hands-on in the store's proven furniture buying-and-pricing method: evaluating what the community brings us, pricing it right, and keeping the showroom stocked with goods people actually want. This is the skill that makes this business work, and it becomes yours.
- Keep the truck moving both ways. Schedule and dispatch the crew for pickups of the furniture we buy and deliveries of the furniture we sell — routed so both happen in the same run, with windows we quote honestly and keep.
- Run the building. Keep 16,000 square feet clean, organized, and looking sharp; stay ahead of maintenance; keep utility costs under control.
- Own the numbers. A short daily check-in with the owner, a weekly scorecard of five key metrics, and a profit bonus paid on results you directly control.
- Add modern tools to a proven operation. The fundamentals here work — the buying method, the customer base, the reputation. Your opportunity is to build on them: leading the move to a barcode inventory system for accurate counts and costs, and opening up the ability to list and sell pieces online.
- Sell where people are. Run our Facebook Marketplace and social-media presence, and help build the online sales channel from the ground up.
This is not a caretaker job
We're looking for an operator with ideas — new ways to source furniture, smarter ways to track it, modern ways to sell it. You'll have a genuine mandate to grow sales and margin, a bonus plan that pays you when you do, and an owner who wants your proposals, not just your reports. If you've spent years running someone else's playbook and wanted to write your own, this is that seat.
About the hours — stated plainly
The store is open about 45 hours a week. This job is 40. That's deliberate. You are not expected to be here every hour the doors are open — building a team and a schedule that runs well when you're not on the floor is part of the job, not a failure of it.
What we're looking for
None of these are hard requirements. We're more interested in the person than the checklist. If you're strong in some of these and light in others, apply anyway and tell us why you're the one.
- Experience managing a retail store, department, or team — with real scheduling and cost responsibility — is a plus
- Business or business-administration coursework is a plus
- A cost-conscious operator who also knows how to sell
- Organized enough to run a delivery and pickup schedule without dropping a promise to a customer
- A valid Florida driver's license and a clean driving record — you'll dispatch the truck, and occasionally need to take a run yourself
- Comfortable on Facebook Marketplace and social media — or eager to get great at it
- Furniture, resale, thrift, consignment, or auction experience
- Comfortable with spreadsheets and a point-of-sale system
- Hands-on, reliable, and available on-site across our Monday–Saturday retail week
The physical side
This is a hands-on retail floor, not a desk job. With or without reasonable accommodation, you should be comfortable:
- On your feet — standing and walking for most of the day.
- Helping move furniture — lifting, carrying, and maneuvering pieces, usually with a teammate and equipment (hand trucks, dollies, straps). You'll dispatch the crew, but on a busy day you pitch in.
- Lifting roughly up to 50 lbs on your own; heavier items are team-lifted.
- Bending, reaching, and handling stairs at pickup and delivery sites.
Pay & schedule
- Start date: October 1, 2026
- $45,000/year base salary with built-in annual raises
- Monthly commission on total store sales — uncapped
- Quarterly and annual profit bonuses paid on store performance
- Realistic first-year total: $50,000–$60,000+, with more in a great year
- Full-time (40 hours), on-site · store hours Mon–Sat, 10:00 a.m.–5:30 p.m. (closed Sunday)
